Step 1

The company: ABBY by GOGOTECH

ABBY is a high function smart wheelchair and a 150kg capacity household companion robot, not just a mobility device. The company came into the raise production ready with patented technology, dozens of pre order deposits and over 1,000 subscribers on the waitlist, having been through Techstars in 2021 and reaching the Extreme Tech Challenge global final in 2022. Loaded with advanced features and easy to buy online with buy now pay later financing at around $3,000, ABBY is built to reach the widest possible group of users.

Step 2

The market story we took to investors

Only about one million power wheelchairs and one million three and four wheel scooters are produced each year for a global market of more than 200 million adults with reduced mobility. Powered mobility devices are worth over $4 billion today and are expected to more than triple in the next few years. The scarcity of affordable powered mobility was the core of the story we put in front of every investor on the list.

Step 3

Why ABBY wins against the alternatives

Mobility scooters are the cheapest powered option today, yet they are unstable and cannot manoeuvre indoors. Power wheelchairs weigh hundreds of pounds, can cost tens of thousands and still lack cameras and sensors. Power add on kits usually run between $5,000 and $8,000 before the chair itself. Smart push rim technology, a conventional rear wheel drive format and quick release components gave us a clear competitive angle to write about in the outreach.

Step 4

Investor research and list build

We built the investor list around robotics, medical devices, consumer hardware and direct to consumer mandates, then matched each investor by stage, cheque size and geography. The business model gave us strong material to work with, because direct online sales, buy now pay later financing and tool free quick release servicing create a far lower cost model than the incumbents.

Step 5

Outreach, A/B testing and reply routing

We wrote a short HTML and plain text email built on the company's own traction, then A/B tested subject lines and opening lines across scheduled waves. Every send was tracked, investors who opened or clicked were prioritised for follow up, and replies were routed straight to the founding team so calls could be booked while interest was warm.

Step 6

Weekly reporting to the founders

Each week the founders received a report covering sends, opens, clicks, replies and meetings, with a prioritised list of the investors showing the strongest signals. Pre launch traction had already identified around two thirds of the first two years of target volume, so reporting focused on converting attention into commitments during the closing weeks of the raise.
